ABOUT ME
I'm a beauty seeker, an explorer of spaces, both outdoors and inside. I have been traveling all around the world in search of the beauty of our planet, in search of those unique moments where we merge with the object we are looking at, and the boundaries between us and what we are contemplating disappear. These are moments of wonder, an expansion of our consciousness, of awe. In these moments we feel the peace and harmony of all creation. It's in that state of opening, of mindfulness when you can see. I have taken my best photos, and written my finest words, in that state of mindfulness.
I'm the author of four books of travel literature and photography:"Wandering in Jerusalem", "Por la senda de los budas", "Viaje al corazón de China" and "El vuelo de los flamencos pinta Africa de rosa".
Photography, same than writing, is a tool for expresing a reality that our mind access when is concentrated and focus in the present moment. I find mindful photography a perfect way to capture the beauty of a passing moment.
In this sense mindfull photografy is a meditation, a contemplation of reality with our full mind, body and spirit engaged in what is capturing our attention, what's calling to us, what's the reflection, the mirror of our spirit in that unique moment.
The idea of this mindful photography project came out of my interest in mindfulness, beauty, nature and photography. Each time I go into the countryside in search of nature company and communication I experience moments of awe driven by beauty, and I use my camera to try to capture that precious moment that is beyond words. It happens when I'm completely inmersed in the moment, enterely present, and I have the experience of being uplifted, inspired.
The great Buddhist master Thich Nhat Hanh, my spiritual teacher, says that "when we contemplate a flower, we can see in it the whole universe". Thanks to his wisdom, the many reatreats I have followed in Plum Village (France) and in California, and my every day practices of meditation and yoga, I'm now involved in following the path of mindfulness in my life; and photography, as well as writing, are manifestation of that way.
My intention is to share this path with all of you that are interested in expanding your awareness, your conscieusness through a mindfull approach to reality. That's why I'm also a facilitator of mindful photography workshops. Contact me please if you are interested in hiring my services.
"May you be happy, may you be well, may you be safe, may you be peaceful and at ease".
